The New Orleans Fairgrounds Race Course and Slots have given new meaning to “A Night At The Races.” On Friday, January 17, they held their monthly nighttime Starlight Racing series to a record-breaking crowd.
Every month during race season, the Fairgrounds combines evening races with top-notch entertainment. This evening the band Groovy Seven had people dancing the night away in between watching the horses run. Admission to the clubhouse is $10, but that also allows you access to the tent downstairs where a DJ spins.
The libations flowed freely as guests cheered their horses onto victory. There is also plenty of gourmet delicacies on sales in the tent as well as dining in the Clubhouse; so this makes for a perfect night of dinner, dancing and gaming either with the races or the slots.
Between the rhythmic beats of the band and the excitement of the races, the atmosphere was exhilarating. Go-go dancers dressed as jockeys punctuated the tent to add to the ambiance of the party scene. The last two Starlight Races will be on February 7th with the Topcats in the Clubhouse and DJ San-D in the Miller Time Beer Garden and March 14th with the Mixed Nuts in the Clubhouse and DJ Kemistry in the Miller Time Beer Garden.
