With Jazz Festival right around the corner, there are plenty of festively gay things to do preceding it. Here are just a few of them to enjoy.

Monday does not have to be a drag at Tulane Avenue Bar. Join them every Monday at 8:00 pm for viewing of RuPaul’s Drag Race with Vanessa Carr Kennedy as your host. Ladies take the stage in our All Girl Drag contest and stick around for more surprises. Tulane Ave Bar & Grill is located at 3813 Tulane Ave.

Join Nicole Lynn Foxx and special guest comedian DC Paul at Big Mama’s Lounge at the House of Blues New Orleans for a special Monday night Kiki! Doors open at 6:30pm and Showtime is at 7pm and there is no cover! House of Blues is located at 225 Decatur St.

Join Pagoda Café (1430 N. Dorgenois Street) for Movie Night. They will be showing “Rockers” – the greatest Reggae Movie ever made! The film is brought to you by the film savvy of Ms. Donna Duplanrtier and Caribbean food stylings of Ms. Elyse Manning. Whether you are capping off your Patois weekend, hunkering down before Jazz Fest, or mailing off your taxes, come chill to the good sounds of this amazing film. Food and drink for sale starting at sundown at 6:30pm. Movie starts at 7:30. BYOB and BYOP (picnic blanket). The breakdown: Starring Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace and Richard “DirtyHarry” Hall, ROCKERS is a Robin Hood style story of oppressed Jamaican musicians getting even with the “mafia types” in the business. Scorpio Boys Entertainment is a nationally known Boylesque troupe that is now bringing their show locally to Tulane Avenue Bar (3812 Tulane Ave.) starting at 9 p.m. The show is called “Gods” and stars Eros, Poseidon, Dionysus and Apollo.

Come out to the NOLA Cherry Blossom Festival, a celebration of springtime in New Orleans blended with our love for cute Japanese culture! The event will take place at Kawaii NOLA (3512 Magazine Street) from noon to 2 p.m. Hosted by Midori & Eureeka Starfish, this mini-festival will include performances by LibeRaunchy the BeauxQueen, Eureeka Starfish, Chelsea Chavis and Sora with tunes mixed by DJ BELLA. Visit the 3 pop-up shops with handmade accessories by local shops Dozidotes, MintyMix, & T-Baby’s Cute n’ Fuzzies. Come dressed to impress & enter the J-Fashion Show Contest for a chance to win prizes from local merchants. There will also be a NOLA Lolitas Meet & Greet & special Fashion Show. A Sakura Petal Drop will conclude the event at 2 pm, but Kawaii NOLA will stay open until 4 pm for more kawaii fun & shopping!
