If Monday’s such a DRAG, why not have a KIKI! Come to Big Mama’s Lounge at the House of Blues New Orleans 225 Decatur Street) for a VERY SPECIAL EDITION of “Mondays a DRAG…”!  Because not only will we STILL be celebrating a certain BIRTHDAY, they’ll also have TWO amazing BURLESQUE BABES.  Special guests for the night include producer of The Roux: A Spicy Brown Burlesque Festival, the sultry Blu Reine and headmistress of The New Orleans School of Burlesque, the sizzling Bella Blue. Come out to one of the best events during Easter weekend. The 14th Annual Marigny Bunny Hop, an Easter bonnet bar crawl, will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Cutter’s (706 Franklin Avenue) and will make stops at the several locations where the various trophies will be presented. Everyone is invited to don their most creative or outrageous Easter “bonnet” and join the bar crawl as it makes its way to 8 different gay owned businesses in the Marigny.  At each stop, bonnets will be judged in various categories by the bartenders and staff, and trophies will be presented.  This year, the Bunny Marshal leading the festivities will be Gary Vandeventer. He will be responsible for guiding the Easter revelers along the route.  Previous Bunny Marshals (BM’s) include:  Lewis Routh I-III, Guadelupe IV, Poncho V, Fish VI, Rip & Marsha Naquin Delain VII, Joanne & Lisa Guidos VIII, Tony Leggio IX, Jeff Mallon & Marty Curtin X, Princesse Stephaney XI, The Betties XII, and John Michael Alderson XIII.

The locations are as follows: Cutter’s – Most Glamorous Bonnet, Big Daddy’s – Widest Bonnet, Mimi’s in the Marigny- Tallest Bonnet, The Friendly Bar- Best Couple, Who Dat Coffee Cafe – Best Newbie (for first time participants), Mag’s 940 – Most Creative Bonnet, The Phoenix – Butchest Bonnet, Kajun’s Pub – Sissiest  Bonnet and Best Group (minimum of three members), Tony Leggio – Life of the Hop Award, Ambush Magazine- Best of the Best, Event Organizers – Meyer-Routh-Murrell Spirit Award.  Like last year, the event will include a 50/50 raffle benefiting the Gay Easter Parade and Food for Friends.

#7. Saturday, March 26, 2016

TAZE-Ya’s Ballzy Revue Show 2 starts at 9:17 p.m.  This drag extravaganza will be held at Tahyo Lounge (2029 Paris Road in Chalmette).  The star studded cast includes Taze-Ya Ballz, Countess C. Alice, Ilaynnah Eve DeLorean, Karli LaCorre, Nancy Ballz, Laveau Contraire, and Blazen Haven.  Theyw ill be presenting you a bunch of “MyBabies DADDY”.   Yes that is the theme.  Also remember that every show is a benefit for the VillaLobos Animal Rescue/Shelter. All drink sales profits go directly to help the VillaLobos Animal Rescue/Shelter.  Entry is “FREE”.

The 17th Gay Easter Parade benefiting Food For Friends will begin on Easter Sunday with the Pre-Parade Party. Parade Participants Check-in between 3-4 p.m. at GrandPre’s (834 N. Rampart Street).   The parade begins at 4:30pm starting @ Armstrong Arch, left on St. Ann, left on Bourbon, right on Esplanade, right on Royal, right on St. Louis, right on Burgundy, left on Dumaine ending at N. Tony Leggio is a born and raised New Orleanian. He has over 20 years of event management experience having produced over 5,000 events locally and nationally. Tony has received numerous awards for his outstanding achievements in the hospitality industry. Besides his professional career, Anthony has played an active role in the community.He has served Event Chair of Art Against AIDS for the No/Aids Task Force for the past ten years and was honored as Humanitarian of the Year in 2010 by the organization. He is also a freelance writer who has written for USA Today, as well as several local publications.He also writes a column regularly In Ambush Magazine, plus is part of Gambit’s Big Easy Theatre Committee.Tony is a social butterfly of New Orleans that not only knows how to put on a great event but also knows how to enjoy one.
