December in New Orleans is one of the most magical times of the year. The holiday season here is always filled with sparkles and gaiety. So let’s enjoy some of the festively gay things to do.

Join Crescent Care for Queenaoke at Kajun’s Pub (2256 St. Claude Ave.) for a night of free food, karaoke and info about PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) as well as free HIV testing. PrEP is a once a day pill taken to lower the risk of contracting HIV. PrEP is recommended for anyone (regardless of gender or sexual orientation) who may be at risk for HIV. PrEP is now available and Crescent Care wants to help people who feel it may be a right choice for them to get on it! We will have an info table providing information with staff available to provide any information about PrEP or general affordable healthcare access information. Performances will be by Kat $natch and CHAYO. Free food from KEBAB will be provided along with door prizes such as Amazon Gift Cards, Lube, Tickets to Art Against AIDS and more. Free Rapid HIV testing will also be provided in our mobile testing unit right outside the bar. The event begins at 8:30 p.m.

Come out to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (1130 North Rampart St.) for a time of reflection and remembrance of those who have died or are living with AIDS starting at 6:30 p.m.

The holiday season is upon us and tf hat means Art Against AIDS is here. The 29th annual Art Against AIDS, considered by many as the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season will be held at Club XLIV on Champion Square at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome starting at 7:30 – 11 p.m. The event began with local art students making holiday ornaments to sell and raise money. Today, our Gala hosts some of the finest of what New Orleans offers: great food from local restaurants, a holiday boutique, and a juried auction of art, local merchandise and staycation packages. Thousands of people with HIV/AIDS in the New Orleans community count on the organization for primary health care, behavioral health services, medication disbursement, meal delivery and pantry services, housing and prevention education.   This year’s entertainment features Randy Roberts from America’s Got Talent, Smoke N Bones and Shades of Praise. The Big Easy Sisters/Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence with Bon Vivant Princesse Stephaney is putting on their take on the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas Musical at Mags 940 (940 Elysian Fields) from 9 – 11 p.m. You can come out and sing-along, laugh and cut loose during this event! This year will be the 3rd installation of Krampus Gras will be held at the Voodoo Lounge (718 Rampart) starting at 8 p.m.  Release your inner holiday demon at this lively event that offers you a night of surprises, dancing, and mayhem! Costumes as a Krampus or naughty child requested. General Admission will be $5 in costume $10 without a costume and will be collected at the door! Doors will open at 10pm  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Planned Parenthood New Orleans. DJ Andy Average will be spinning Punk, Lounge and Rhythm and Blues.

Come “Show YOUR Pride” at the 2016 New Orleans Pride Pageant at The 2016 New Orleans Pride Pageant held at Mags 940 (940 Elysian Fields) starting at 5 p.m. Contestants eligible to compete should live in the New Orleans or Southeast Louisiana/ Southwest Mississippi area. There will be four divisions: Miss New Orleans Pride: Male or transgender (MTF) competitors presenting as female; Sir New Orleans Pride: Female or transgender (FTM) competitors presenting as male; Ms. New Orleans Pride: Female or transgender (MTF) competitors presenting as female; Mr. New Orleans Pride: Male or transgender (FTM) competitors presenting as male. Tony Leggio is a born and raised New Orleanian. He has over 20 years of event management experience having produced over 5,000 events locally and nationally. Tony has received numerous awards for his outstanding achievements in the hospitality industry. Besides his professional career, Anthony has played an active role in the community.He has served Event Chair of Art Against AIDS for the No/Aids Task Force for the past ten years and was honored as Humanitarian of the Year in 2010 by the organization. He is also a freelance writer who has written for USA Today, as well as several local publications.He also writes a column regularly In Ambush Magazine, plus is part of Gambit’s Big Easy Theatre Committee.Tony is a social butterfly of New Orleans that not only knows how to put on a great event but also knows how to enjoy one.
