Halloween New Orleans is once again upon us in all of its spooky and lusty glory with the title: The Fall of the Pharaohs. This benefit weekend helps Project Lazarus. Journey with us into the Pyramid of the Pharaohs where you’ll experience the luxuries of Egyptian royalty and uncover the horrifying secret crypt where the dead are laid to rest. Will you follow the path of the rich or the path of the dead? NOAGE (New Orleans Advocates for GLBT Elders) is hosting a coffee conversation, led by Rebecca Stilling, LCSW, on the ways we care for ourselves now to maximize quality of life both now and as we age into our futures from 10:00-11:15 A.M. at the New Orleans Healing Center (2372 St. Claude Ave., Room #250). A talk about self-nurturing and self-compassion as well as self-guidance and discipline for healthy living now and for our older selves. Refreshments will be provided. Rebecca Stilling, LCSW, is a clinical social worker, in private practice since 1985. Rebecca is a poet, a traveler, a nature lover and a fitness enthusiast. Her friends have teasingly described her as a “health nut.” She has been with her partner for 40 years. As a born and raised New Orleanian, she appreciates the place of home and family, whether of birth or choice, in the psyche. She has focused much of her life’s work on trauma and resilience. She practices an eclectic, Humanistic and Existential style of therapy with an additional focus on holistic self-care practices.

Begin with unfortunately disturbing karaoke at 6:00 p.m. Appear by 8:30 to register for their unnervingly awful karaoke contest starting at 9:00 p.m. $5 to enter and $25, $20 and $15 bar tabs for the three contestants rated highest by their putrid panel of judges. At 10:00 The Southern Barbitchuates perform with Gia GiaVanni, Sable Nicole Star, Moanalot Fontaine and Coca Mesa. Next up is DJ M-BALM’D as he cranks the infernal dirges from 11:30 until you crumble and die. At 1:00 AM there will be a ruinous and cruel costume contest. The Lords will be having their annual Halloween Costume Contest and Beer Bust at the Phoenix Saturday (940 Elysian Fields Ave.) starting at 9 p.m… Nothing is scarier than the Lords in Costume so come out and drink until those gobbling are pretty. There will be a costume contest with cash prizes.
