Glitter And Be Gay In NOLA
The Krewe of Armeinius hosted their annual Glitter and Be Gay Party on Saturday, May 10, 2014. This annual soiree is one of the krewe’s top fundraisers held each year to raise monies to produce their Mardi Gras Ball. Established in 1969, Armeinius is one of the oldest gay balls in New Orleans. Throughout the year they hold fundraising events to help alleviate costs for their ball which is always the Saturday before Mardi Gras.
One of their most popular events is Glitter and Be Gay, which is a cocktail reception and silent auction in which guests are encouraged to wear their most flamboyant attire. This year the party was held at the home of Scott Spivey and John Pfeifer. It was a splendid evening with many people attending in their gayest finery.
Illuminated by outdoor lighting strung overhead and numerous candles scattered around, the courtyard was captivating and with the lovely weather made for the perfect New Orleans evening. There was flowing cocktails, tasty food made by the krewe, an incredible silent auction (I should know I won half of the stuff it seems) and lots of fascinating guests. Congratulations to all who put on this unforgettable evening.
