All Hail The Queen

Those who think coronation balls in England are over-the-top have never been to a New Orleans during Carnival season.  The Endymion Queen’ Party of Alexandra Kern at the New Orleans Film and Event Studio on Saturday, February 8, 2014 was an evening filled with Mardi Gras merriment.

At the entrance, guests were greeted by stiltwalkers, mimes, the Brazilian Band Casa Samba, Girls adorned with champagne dresses and roaming buffet tables before they even reached the receiving line.  Talk about over-stimulation at its finest.  Alexandra looked absolutely radiant as she welcomed everyone to the soiree.  The evening began in the first room with a reception with passed appetizers and cocktails as Anais St. John performed.

After an hour, guests were second lined into a larger space at the venue for dinner and dancing.  There were more environmental entertainers like psychic readers and caricature artists as well as DJ Sandy spinning some great tracks that kept people on the dance floor the entire night.

The catering was done by the Hyatt’s off-premise catering department 1718 and was delicious with a mashed potato station that included three types of starch plus an extensive array of toppings, a carving station with multiple choices and an impressive dessert set-up to tickle anyone’s sweet tooth.  Jerry Christopher’s Big Easy Jazz Band also performed another room.

It was my first time attending an Endymion Queen’s party and it was a memorable one.  Alexandra’s coronation and the speeches from her father Blaine Kern jr. and the captain were touching and sincere.  Tammy Kern (the queen mum and owner of Paperdoll Promotions, a model and talent agency) provided go-go dancers, all the musical and theme entertainment for the night that added the crowning touch on the evening’s festivities.

Congratulations to the new Queen of Endymion and may her entire reign be just as fabulous as her coronation party.
